“I decided to publicly come out of the closet, talking about my experience as a gay theology student. One of my theology colleagues threatened me, and a former theology teacher wrote an article about my coming out entitled “disappointment and disgust.” Stories like this highlight the task ahead of us- something we see not as a challenge, but as an opportunity to create change, raise awareness and walk alongside our members and their families every step of their journey.
