BOARD POSITIONS
PRESIDENT
Purpose: The President shall serve as Chief Executive Officer of the corporation.
Qualifications: The President shall have previously served at least two years on the Board, preferably within the last five years.
Major responsibilities:
- Represent the corporation in dealing with other corporations and businesses, including the signing of contracts
- Sit in an ex officio capacity, without vote, on all committees except the Nominating Committee
- Coordinate and chair membership meetings, Board meetings, and Executive Committee meetings, when present
- Maintain communication with the Board between meetings
- Report regularly to the membership
- Submit to the Board an annual work plan identifying the specific activities and collaborative ventures to be carried out during the forthcoming fiscal year
Length of term: Two years. The President shall be elected in odd-numbered years.
Meetings and time commitment:
- The board of directors meets annually during Kampmeeting for a 3-hour session, and in the Fall and Spring. The latter meetings typically take place over a weekend.
- Committees of the board meet according to their respective work agenda.
Expectations of board members and leadership staff:
- All Directors and Leadership Staff shall perform their duties in good faith, in a manner they believe to be in the best interests of Kinship and with such care, including responsible inquiry, as is appropriate under the circumstances.
- All Directors and Leadership Staff are expected to attend regular Board meetings. Failure to attend more than two such meetings consecutively may be cause for removal.
- The Board may define additional duties for any Director or Leadership Staff in addition to those listed in the Bylaws.
- All Directors and Leadership Staff shall follow the position descriptions, policies, and procedures set forth by the Board.
VICE PRESIDENT
Purpose: The Vice President shall assist the President in her or his duties.
Qualifications: The Vice President shall have previously served at least two years on the Board, preferably within the last five years.
Major responsibilities:
- Perform the functions of the President in the event of her/his absence, unavailability, or inability to perform the duties of the office
- Chair the Member Services Committee
- Perform other duties as designated by the President
- Submit to the Board an annual work plan identifying the specific activities and collaborative ventures to be carried out during the forthcoming fiscal year
Length of term: Two years. The Vice President shall be elected in even-numbered years.
Meetings and time commitment:
- The board of directors meets annually during Kampmeeting for a 3-hour session, and in the Fall and Spring. The latter meetings typically take place over a weekend.

SECRETARY
Purpose: The Secretary shall ensure that records of all the business of Kinship are kept and maintained.
Qualifications: Must be a Regular Member at least twenty-five years of age, must have been a member for at least one year, and must possess a college degree, certificate, or its equivalent as determined by the Board.
Major responsibilities:
- Ensure that records of all the business of Kinship are kept and maintained, minutes of the meetings of the Board and the membership meetings, and business correspondence
- Maintain a current Leadership Directory
- Ensure that proper notice is given as required
- Chair the Governance Committee
- Submit to the Board an annual work plan identifying the specific activities and collaborative ventures to be carried out during the forthcoming fiscal year
Length of term: Two years. The Secretary shall be elected in odd-numbered years.

TREASURER
Purpose: The Treasurer shall serve as Chief Financial Officer of the corporation.
Qualifications: The Treasurer shall have at least two years’ professional experience in the field of finance or accounting.
Major responsibilities:
- Ensure that accurate financial records are maintained, and oversee collections, billings, disbursements, and receipts
- Oversee and ensure the preparation and timely filing of all required local, state, and federal forms
- Provide to the membership, through an official publication, an accounting of all finances and proposed major expenditures
- Ensure the preparation of an annual budget within the time frame established by the Board
- Make any financial records available to the Board for inspection at all reasonable times
- Chair the Finance Committee
- Serve as a member of the Finance and Kampmeeting Committees
- Submit to the Board an annual work plan identifying the specific activities and collaborative ventures to be carried out during the forthcoming fiscal year

DIRECTOR OF CHURCH RELATIONS
Purpose: The Director of Church Relations shall act as the chief liaison between Kinship and the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Qualifications: The Director of Church Relations shall be a current member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and shall preferably have been employed by the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Major responsibilities:
- Monitor or facilitate monitoring the affairs of the Seventh-day Adventist church and report regularly to the President and/or the Board and/or the organization’s newsletter
- Assist the Director of Kampmeeting with the identification and procurement of clergy for Kampmeeting participation, and assist with their education and preparation
- Maintain a list of, and keep in contact with, clergy who have attended Kampmeeting and with other clergy and denominational employees who are supportive of Kinship
- Act as a conduit for communication with the Seventh-day Adventist Church
- Serve on the Kampmeeting Committee
- Chair the Advisory Council and facilitate communication between the Board and the Council
- Submit to the Board an annual work plan identifying the specific activities and collaborative ventures to be carried out during the forthcoming fiscal year

DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS
Purpose: The Director of Communications shall oversee and coordinate the organization’s communication efforts.
Qualifications: The Director of Communications shall have at least one year of applied experience in some area of the communication field.
Major responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate the organization’s communication strategies, including any internet sites and all printed and electronic channels, including social media platforms
- Work to promote Kinship’s purposes and objectives as described in the Mission Statement and Vision Statement
- Oversee the planning, design, and maintenance of a public relations strategy to promote visibility of the activities of the organization
- Oversee the preparation, production, proofreading, publication, and distribution of any official corporate publications, while adhering to any policies, procedures, and budget established by the Board
- Establish and enforce the specifications of the SDA Kinship logo
- Chair the Communications Committee and serve on the Technology Sub-committee and Publications Sub-committee
- Submit to the Board an annual work plan identifying the specific activities and collaborative ventures to be carried out during the forthcoming fiscal year

DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
Purpose: The Director of Development shall serve to help keep SDA Kinship financially sound by overseeing fundraising activities and developing relationships with volunteers and donors.
Qualifications: The Director of Development shall have at least one year of applied experience in some area of the communication field.
Major responsibilities:
- Develop strategies to secure grants; solicit individual or corporate donations; or organize fundraising activities, such as social events, telemarketing, direct mail, or sponsorships
- Create, maintain, and manage donor database for fundraising purposes
- Work with the Communications Team to plan advertising, public relations, and promotions so as to keep SDA Kinship visible to make it easier to obtain donations
- Advise and assist the Executive Committee in regard to fundraising strategies and campaigns
- Chair the Development Committee
- Submit to the Board an annual work plan identifying the specific activities and collaborative ventures to be carried out during the forthcoming fiscal year.
Length of term: Two years. The Director of Development shall be elected in even-numbered years.

Director of Women's Interests
Purpose: The Director of Women’s Interests shall serve as an advocate for women’s issues and concerns within the organization.
Qualifications: The Director of Women’s Interests shall be a female elected by the female members.
Major responsibilities:
- Assist in the facilitation of networking and encourage and support participation among women members
- Organize, facilitate, or delegate activities to implement the above
- Advise and assist the Director of Communications in regard to outreach to women
- Submit to the Board an annual work plan identifying the specific activities and collaborative ventures to be carried out during the forthcoming fiscal year
Length of term: Two years. The Director of Women’s Interests shall be elected in odd-numbered years.

DIRECTOR OF YOUTH INTERESTS
Purpose: The Director of Youth Interests shall serve as an advocate for youth issues and concerns within the organization.
Qualifications: The Director of Youth Interests must be at least twenty-one years of age and must have been a member for at least one year. The Director of Youth Interests shall be elected by those members who are under the age of thirty.
Major responsibilities:
- Facilitate networking and encourage and support participation among the organization’s youth, defined as those members under thirty years of age
- Organize, facilitate, or delegate activities to implement the above
- Advise and assist the Director of Communications in regard to outreach to youth
- Submit to the Board an annual work plan identifying the specific activities and collaborative ventures to be carried out during the forthcoming fiscal year.
Length of term: Two years. The Director of Youth Interests shall be elected in even-numbered years.
