Kampmeeting 2008

After searching over 40 sites from New England to Virginia, we have found a wonderful venue in Reston, VA, which is only 20 minutes from Washington, DC. It is the Sheraton Reston Hotel, situated in a wooded area with a golf course across the street and a park just a short distance down the street.

Our dates for Kampmeeting will be July 13-20, 2008, with Women and Children First Weekend being July 11-13, 2008.

The hotel is located four miles from Dulles International Airport, and offers free shuttle service to and from the airport. Several low cost airlines such as Southwest, Virgin America, and JetBlue serve the airport. Dulles offers a variety of flights to many international destinations and will be a real asset to our international Kinship members.

Free shuttle service is also available from the hotel to Reston Town Center, which has shopping, restaurants, and movie theaters. The Vienna Metro Station is 15 minutes from the hotel.

The hotel has recently completed a total renovation on all guest rooms, as well as meeting areas, restaurant, pool, and fitness center. The meeting rooms are located on the ground floor in a horseshoe shape; and all the rooms are on the same side of the hall, thereby avoiding the conflict we had with the competing group meeting across the hall on Sabbath in San Francisco. Parking is complimentary, as is Internet service from the hotel's business center. Internet access is also available from the guest rooms and meeting spaces for a fee of $9.95 per day. All our dietary needs will be provided for. To save on costs this year, we will be having a simple continental breakfast in the mornings with the choice of vegetarian/non-vegetarian plated meals for lunch and dinner.

We hope that the Washington DC area will be an attractive destination for you and that you will want to attend due to the vast array of cultural and historical features of this area.

If you have questions or comments or would like to help with Kampmeeting, please contact Naveen at kampmeeting@sdakinship.org.

Reston, VA

About 15 miles from Washington, D.C., Reston stands out as a planned community.

It was named after Robert E. Simon (his initials, RES), a man who had a dream of a community that had a natural environment with trees and lakes and pathways that would make it hard to remember that you were living in a nationally recognized business magnet.
