IAGC Intercollegiate Adventist GSA Coalition

The Intercollegiate Adventist GSA Coalition (IAGC) exists to support Gay and /Straight Alliance (GSA) groups at Adventist colleges across North America.

Mission

“In the spirit of Jesus' ministry of love and Paul’s directive in 2 Corinthians 5:20 to be ambassadors of reconciliation, the Intercollegiate Adventist GSA Coalition (IAGC) seeks to promote understanding, compassion, education, awareness and community for those who wish to integrate their faith with their sexual and gender identities. Therefore, IAGC is a student-run organization that seeks to bridge the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ) community and the Seventh-day Adventist community within the academic setting. The members of the IAGC strive to create a community of fellowship that affirms diversity while sowing seeds of love”

Someone to talk to...

for families of gays and lesbians

www.someone-to-talk-to.net

The purpose of this ministry for Adventist families and friends of gays and lesbians is:

  • to provide a listening ear for parents who desperately need a "safe" person to talk to,

  • to help parents work through their initial emotions of shock, anger, shame, grief and pain,

  • to enable parents to get past focusing on their own suffering so they can begin to understand their children's
situations and the confusion and rejection they have experienced much of their lives,

  • to encourage parents to demonstrate God's unconditional love to their children, and

  • to provide information and resources in the hope that they will help our church to move beyond ignorance and prejudice and to reach out with true compassion and understanding to those who so often have not been treated the way Jesus modeled.

HeartStrong is a non sectarian organization established to provide outreach to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and other persons adversely affected by the influence of all denominations of religious educational institutions.

HeartStrong is also committed to educating the public about the persecution of GLBT’s and others at religious educational institutions.

Human Rights Campaign - Religion & Faith

www.hrc.org/issues/religion.asp

The Human Rights Campaign Religion and Faith Program’s mission is to change the conversation about gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people and faith. Because of the pioneering efforts of brave religious people speaking out for equality, a new movement for change is emerging that embraces a culture of welcome, compassion, and hospitality, values that are at the heart of all our faith traditions.
